The return of SPAZ brunch and the debut of the new
gallery at Sunspot called "Art Zoid", this event will
begin at 10 AM on Sun. Oct. 5th at 968 Peralta ave. in S.F.
Admission is free but buffet plates of food will be $5 all you
can eat. This is to raise money for Aaron's skyrocketing legal
costs. Anyone who has art that they would like to submit for
display or for sale should bring it to sunspot on sat. the 4th
to set it up for display in the gallery. Any kind of art is OK
as long as it's good. There will also be djs in the "mix" all
day long so expect some double dutch action to go down as well.

LongHaul Cafe Night Sunday Oct. 5th at 7pm. Benefit dinner for the radical art activist collective Taring Padi. Homemade Indonesian meal, screening of the documentary Indonesia: Art Activism and Rock n Roll. There will also be a discussion about Indonesian art, politics and social history along with a video conference call with some of the artists in Indonesia. This is a fundraiser and awareness event to help bring members of Taring Padi to the Zapatista organized First Global Festival of Dignified Rage Dec 26-29, 2008 in Mexico City, and in Chiapas Jan 2-4, 2009.
Known as Taring Padi, the group is self-described as an "independent non-profit cultural community based on the concept of people's culture." They arose in 1998 in the midst of major social uprising and political reformation when the corrupt Indonesian dictator President Surharto was forced out of office by a popular people's movement.

Save the date of Saturday, Nov. 1st to join us for "Calavera Oaxaquena: Mensajes de la Lucha Social", 6-11pm. Now this night of incredible Artwork! Banjos! Accordions! Puppets! Documentary Screenings! Clowns! Pan de muerto! and so much more, is only one week away. A million thanks to all of you that helped and supported during the Cafe Calavera benefit event. It was wonderful to see you, share great food and send the show on it's way.
The exhibit is a Bay Area collaboration with Oaxacan artists honoring the dead by using art as the voice of justice. Including the 38-Artist collaborative series ‘Calavera Oaxaquena', community altars, projected documentaries, and great live music. Including artwork from nearly seventy artists in the theme of los muertos and social struggle. Featuring the print and stencil works from three Oaxacan art collectives that formed during the movement of 2006, and the works of many local artists.
