Yup.. voted for June.

Thanks for moving the topic over here, and for the poll.

the thing about having the festival in june is that it gives the scouts very little time, so no matter what time of year it is we need more scouts. i went scouting about two or three weeks prior this year, hoping to get lucky, but most of the logging roads were still blocked off by SNOW or downed trees because the forest service hadn't had a chance to clear the area's yet. 

i would like it in july, just cuz the vibe is better...people have more time to get their rigs together, the scouts have more time to scour the forests...i just liked it in july.

no matter what, more scouts r needed. maybe we could have small scouting parties in august and september? we gotta get the ball rollin again soon.

Yo, I hear you on the scouting tip.

 Ya'llz moto-bike style was the Uber-modality.  So using the nice weather NOW, to scout for locations possible for next year was/is still a very good idea.
I'm down, suggest; we take me veg-Rig as a base station (mobile kitchen, water storage, gear/fuel storage, motor-cycle trailer(who's got one?),  etc...)  May we organize a posse and roll to locations with bikes in tow, set up base camp, and hit the locations like that?

that sounds fukin rad k, but i dont have a motorcycle...and im sure the guys with the bikes from last year would rather ride wherever they go. no matter the mode of transpo, it would be cool as all get out to have multiple scouts roll into an area, with like u said a base camp...(and maybe even sound/noize at night, with celebration).

     hummm...  no bike here either. well, moto bikes or not i'm still down for a scout mission. possibly later then summer though, more towards mid fall. if this was the timing, my  thinking is this mission could coincide well with fungi hunting, and doing some hands on wild crafting for winter food stocks.

I am sure we could get some PAN!ZEN folks together for a big scoutfest in late september...

How about the week prior and leading up to the 4th of july? Including the previous weekend.

It seems that this is an optimal balance between the wetter spring period and the dryer weather.

Constraining ourselves to full moons seems too restrictive in terms of time possibilities,, and the light levels don't seem to really make that big of a difference. If there are dense trees it is still dark and if there are clearings it is still navigable. Most camps are artificially lit, and if fires are allowed then that's great too.

Most people will stay if weekends are involved. Centering around more weekends helps population, from past experience.

i believe the full moon is important. the atmosphere is better with a big bright beautiful moon hovering above. i prefer June just because it is a perfect way to start the summer, but i can see the issues with scouting and scrambling to get ready.

My best memories of mutantfest ever were when it was planned on a new moon. There was a long road which people would wander up and down, between Katabatik and Olytopia at the far ends. There was glowing fungus on the ground. On the new moon (toward the end) it was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, but you could encounter friends in the dark along the road. lets do it again.
